kjr_nanojournal: (Satan's Alley)
( Oct. 2nd, 2008 10:00 pm)
So I've decided this year to take the plunge into the madness that is NaNoWriMo during the madness of the retail holiday season. The novel is going to be a "Satan's Alley" fanfic. At this point I've done some minimal research, but I thought it would be more fun to just start writing and ignore facts (especially historical) and the rules (especially those concerning grammar, plot and spelling) and just get the story down.

The plan is to write it on my hubby's old Toshiba laptop which has a screen that doesn't work, but which also has no internet connection or anything interesting on it to distract me with; to have the iPod ready to go with music to write to; and to have a room set aside just for writing. (Hopefully I'll also have a clean house so I don't have to worry about that too.) I also plan on posting the raw messing results of the daily writing-- even if it's only a sentence-- here to amuse myself on my progress afterward. I'm trying to learn how to "write now, edit later" and I'm thinking this might be the best way of doing that.

May not make 50,000 words mark, but I'll have something! Should be fun to see what I get writing without allowing myself to backtrack and correct!

Enjoy!

EDIT: Nov 2, '08-- Have no idea where I put hubby's computer, and didn't get the room clean, but I have found that my halloween bat antennas work really well for inspiration. Might need to adopt that as my writing hat. :)
